Engine Page:

305 Chevy
When I purchased the car, I was given this '85 Chevy 305 out of a station wagon. All I knew of this engine was that it had high miles. Nevertheless, I decided to clean it up and install it until another engine could be built.

After cleaning up the 305 and installing a two barrel carb and intake, Dad and I stuck it in. Surprisingly, the engine ran great, but I still couldn't wait to get a 350 built and installed.

Along with the 305, I was given a TH 350, and the rest of the parts to at least get the car up and running
350 Chevy
Here's my 350 after I got it back from the machine shop. I had the block bored .030, and the crank ground .010 on both the rods and mains. There were no signs of deck warpage, so I didn't have them machined.

After the machine work was done, and all parts had arrived, the assembly began. I installed all new Clevite engine bearings, along with a set of Silv-o-Lite 9.5:1 hypereutectic pistons. An Edelbrock Performer cam and lifters went in too. I reconditoned the 350's 882 heads with a .030" deck job, 3 angle valve job, new valves, Z-28 valve springs, and some mild port work. To button things up, a Melling oil pump, and brass freeze plugs went in. Last, the engine was covered with red enamel, and topped with a Performer intake, 600 Holley, and Accel ignition system. I ran the car with the stock manifolds and single exhaust for a while, but soon realized how much this was limiting my performance. The next thing to go on was a set of headers and a true dual exhaust.
